Teaching Religious Education

Interested in sharing your faith with our youth? We’d love to have you join our team. Please read the information below to find out what volunteering as a Religious Education teacher is like, and if you are interested please fill out this form.

Teaching

Time Commitment: The classes for grades 1-7 meet on Sunday mornings from 9:15 -10:15,  and the 8-11th grade classes meet Sunday evenings from 4:30-6:45 about 2 times a month. The 2014-15 program starts late Sept to end of April/early May. We follow the UMass schedule as well as the Amherst school schedule.

Resources: Grade1 is using the Finding God series by Loyola Press, grade 2 is First Communion preparation, grades 3-5 are learning about the Bible, and grades 6 and 7 have a lectionary based curriculum. Our HS program will have guest speakers and use curriculum from the Catholic Youth Bible.

Training and Support: We host teacher training every fall and try to have 2 teachers in each classroom.

Other Ways To Help

Faith Journey Sharing Do you have a Faith Journey you would like to share with our Religious Education students? If you have 15 minutes to talk to our R.E. students about God’s role in your life, we need you this year.
